Agriculture

Food cultivation is much more productive with the use of agricultural chemicals and advanced technologies. Pests and diseases could be prevented, and essential nutrients are provided for the crops to grow and flourish. Furthermore, research, technology and infrastructure are utilized to reduce the workload and accelerate the entire cultivation process. However, under these conditions, have our food quality improve?
In agriculture, the quality and quantity of the produce is directly related to the cultivation conditions. Healthy soil and unpolluted water are fundamental. The presence of toxic substances (e.g. heavy metals) in the environment and in agricultural products (e.g. fertilizers and pesticides) could be detrimental and affect the safety and quality of the crops. Chemical analysis of these environmental matrices and agricultural products could provide more insights to achieve the optimal cultivating conditions
